About the Piece

"The history of Ricardo Gómez Campuzano blends with the history of the country over the course of ninety years. At the end of the 19th century, when we were moving toward the last of our great civil wars (at least the last of our great declared civil wars), we began to emerge from a collective childhood that had extended since Gran Colombia. In that same period, Gómez Campuzano was born and grew up as a being made expressly to understand the confused psychology of a country that urgently needed a plastic mode of expression, and from then on he began an uncompromising inquiry that led him to ground himself in the landscape and in the features of a human group that was his own, as a way of finding himself, that is to say, as a way of finding our own collective image."
