The work of Luis Roldán (Cali, 1955), which already holds a prominent place in the current art scene, is solid and consistent: from one step to another, without abandoning the media he uses, but rather transcending all its boundaries. His work includes drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, installations, and video; few materials, objects, or themes escape his eye. Roldán “has been consolidating a contemplative, lyrical, and non-representational body of work that evokes the most vulnerable, precarious, and everyday condition of human existence,” says Carolina Ponce de León, in the essay that, along with the insights of Luis Pérez Oramas, Estrellita Brodsky Curator of Latin American Art at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, opens this book.
