About the Piece

"Guillermo Wiedemann (1905–1969) is one of the most prominent figures of modern art in Colombia. Of German origin, he arrived in the country in 1939, where he developed a body of work deeply marked by light, color, and the tropical landscape. His trajectory reflects a transition from European Expressionism toward a language of his own, influenced by the vitality of the American environment. In his painting, he explored the relationship between form, rhythm, and material, establishing himself as a pioneer of artistic modernity in the country."
