Gerardo Aragón belonged to that generation of Colombian artists who developed under the influence of pop and abstract expressionism in the mid-1960s. As such, he participated in the revival of drawing and engraving, maintained constant teaching activity, and explored different techniques in search of his own expressive language. He expressed his interest in nature through sculpture, installations, collage, watercolor, stained glass, and even bonsai, which he considered an art of equal rank. Aragón oscillated between figurativism, in which the volume of female forms acquires a telluric character, and abstractionism that gradually surpasses boundaries.
