About the Piece
Edgar Negret is a major figure in contemporary Colombian sculpture. Born in Popayán, he began with an early sensitivity to volume and, through his travels, especially to New York, discovered the modern language that would transform his work. There, he came to understand sculpture as construction, space, and thought. Upon discovering aluminum, he turned an industrial material into the instrument of a voice entirely his own: rigorous, refined, silent, and profoundly original.
