About the Piece

Contrary to what one might think, the sculptural work of the Colombian artist Fernando Botero is not recent. It emerged in the seventies, as a direct consequence of the strong sense of volume evident in his unique pictorial world and becomes tangible in the sensuality of the sculptural forms. With an introductory study by writer and critic Jean-Clarence Lambert, this book constitutes the largest published collection of Fernando Botero's prolific sculptural career, from early works in small and medium formats to the most recent pieces, with special emphasis on his masterful monumental sculptures. These sculptures have formed the largest traveling exhibitions ever imagined and have turned the parks, squares, and avenues of the world's major cities into true living museums.
