The Vision Behind Christo and Jeanne-Claude's L'Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped

Weaving's Concierge

In 1961, artist Christo envisioned a bold transformation of one of Paris's most iconic structures, the Arc de Triomphe. This dream, shared with his partner Jeanne-Claude, took decades to materialize, culminating in a breathtaking installation that wrapped the monument in 25,000 square meters of recyclable fabric and 3,000 meters of rope.

The installation, which ran for just 16 days from September 18 to October 3, 2021, was a tribute to the artists' lifelong collaboration and creativity. Their work is characterized by its temporary nature, a philosophy that challenges viewers to appreciate art in a fleeting form.
