Carlos Jacanamijoy, born in 1964, has always been driven by an intense passion for drawing that began in his early childhood. His upbringing in the Sibundoy valley of Colombia, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural traditions, played a crucial role in shaping his artistic vision.

His decision to pursue art at the National University in 1982 was a pivotal moment in his life, one that connected him deeply to his roots as an Inga. With a father who was a respected shaman, Carlos grew up immersed in the myths and legends of his community, as well as the sacred rituals that are fundamental to Inga culture.
